Getting
Around in Downtown Detroit
Need a quick, safe and convenient way to get around in downtown Detroit?
The Detroit People Mover (DPM) is the perfect way to move around the
city with ease. There are 13 strategically placed stations at major
meeting, eating and lodging venues, even the Cobo Conference/Exhibition
Center. Fine dining, shops and entertainment is just moments away
on the People Mover circuit. A Detroit People Mover train pulls up
every three minutes.
Downtown Detroit is full of great things to see and do, from the authentic
old-world flavors of Greektown to the star-studded entertainment of
the magnificent Fox Theatre, restored to gilded splendor. More than
$2,000,000 of original art greets you in the 13 People Mover stations
as you “ride the sky” on the DPM’s elevated downtown
route.
For the Sweet Adelines International Convention and Competition you
can purchase a DPM Convention Special Events Pass (FAST PASS) for
$1 a day. With the special pass you can have unlimited rides without
having to worry about exact change or tokens.
Q: Where can I purchase a “FAST PASS?”
There will be a table located at Cobo Center outside of Macomb Hall
on the Concourse Level where you will be able to purchase your “FAST
PASS” to use during the convention.
Q: What else should I know?
Please note that passes have an event window of 15 minutes to avoid
pass-along ridership — which means, if a pass is swiped once,
it cannot be used at that same station for 15 minutes.
Q: What stations serve my hotel?
There are direct connections to the Courtyard Marriott (Millender
Station), Marriott at GM Renaissance (Renaissance Center Station)
and approximately two blocks from the Holiday Inn Express (E. of Michigan
Station).
Q: If other members of my family don’t have a pass, how can
they otherwise ride?
The People Mover accepts coins and tokens. Token machines are available
at each station.
Q: Is there a map available?
Location maps are positioned on each People Mover platform as well
as “You Are Here” displays on the lower level. Station
to Station guides are also located inside People Mover trains.
