The Young Women in Harmony program, sponsored by Sweet Adelines International, reaches out to young women through the American musical art form of barbershop harmony. Our goal is to provide educational and performance opportunities through music festivals, contests, and events sponsored locally, regionally, and internationally. Additionally, the program offers to music educators a means of including the study and performance of barbershop harmony in school music programs.

UPCOMING INTERNATIONAL YOUTH EVENTS:
YOUTH EVENTS SCHEDULED FOR THE 64th ANNUAL CONVENTION IN SEATTLE, WA - OCTOBER 2010

2010 International YWIH Festival Chours

As a special feature of the convention, we are offering a two day festival on October 15-16, 2010, free of charge to 100 junior high, high school and college age female performers (age 25 and under). We are pleased to offer an outstanding opportunity to participate in rehearsals that are fun and full of learning as these young women are introduced to the exciting elements of the modern barbershop art form: singing four-part, accapella harmony while dancing with fully staged and costumed choreography.

Rehearsals will be under the direction of Nikki Blackmer and Judy Pozsgay during the afternoon on Friday, October 15th and all-day on Saturday, October 16th and culminate in an exciting chorus performance for more than 3,000 audience members on the International Stage of Harmony Classic at the Key Arena at Seattle Center on Tuesday evening, October 19, 2010. It’s going to be a fantastic show, which will also be webcast live for viewers all around the world to see.
